Why Adopt-a-Block? That is a great question. At Ignite Flint we enjoy serving God, spreading His love, and power, as well as being a light in our community. One of our most successful and consistent ways we do this is our Adopt-a-Block program. We are realizing that revival is not about how many people you pack into a church building; it's about how effectively you change the environment of your community. Adopt-a-Block is how we are going to change the heartbeat of a city so torn with drugs, violence, gang activity, and sexual perversion. We have become the eyes and ears of our community to find the needs of the people, and the resources to meet those needs.
How does Adopt-a-Block work? This is another great question. At this time, we reach out to the SAME 93 homes on two separate blocks behind our church. Each home has two block pastors who visit them every Saturday morning. We offer a love offering of various foods, prayer, fellowship, and support. Also, we have a crew that will go to homes to mow lawns, yard work, moving furniture, raking leaves, or anything that we possibly could do for people who could not do them on their own. We also do some very exciting, and bold outreach. We do treasure hunts (speaking God's love), street evangelism, clothing, food giveaways and so on. We have seen people come to Christ, get baptized in their back yard, receive healings, and hearts become alive again through Adopt-a-Block.
What does this have to do with you? I am glad you asked. We would love to see lives transformed on other blocks and could use block pastors and volunteers to reach them. We meet every Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm here at Ignite Flint. Come join this exciting and powerful move of love and power.
